چکیده

This paper provides test procedures to determine whether the probability distribution underlying a set of non-negative valued samples belongs to the Increasing Failure Rate Average (IFRA) class or the New Better than Used (NBU) class. Membership of a distribution to one of these classes is known to have implications which are important in reliability, queuing theory, game theory and other disciplines. Our proposed test is based on the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) distance between an empirical cumulative hazard function and its best approximation from the class of distributions constituting the null hypothesis. It turns out that the least favorable distribution, which produces the largest probability of Type I error of each of the tests, is the exponential distribution. This fact is used to produce an appropriate cut-off or p-value. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to check small sample size (i.e., significance) and power of the test. Usefulness of the test is illustrated through the analysis of a set of monthly family expenditure data collected by the National Sample Survey Organization of the Government of India.

Properties and Tests for Some Classes of Life Distributions

A life distribution and its survival function F = 1 F with finite mean y = /q F(x)dx are said to be HNBUE (HNWUE) if F(x)dx < (>) U exp(-t/y) for t > 0. The major part of this thesis deals with the class of HNBUE (HNWUE) life distributions. We give different characterizations of the HNBUE (HNWUE) property and present bounds on the moments and on the survival function F when this is HNBUE (HNWUE...

Generalized Ageing Classes in Terms of Laplace Transforms

Kebir (1994) (see also Shaked and Shanthikumar, 1994) has characterized likelihood ratio (LR) ordering, failure rate (FR) ordering, reversed hazard rate ordering and stochastic (ST) ordering with the help of Laplace transform. Using Laplace transform, Nanda (1995) has characterized, by means of necessary and sufficient conditions, the property that two life distributions are ordered in the s-FR...

روشی جدید برای عضویت‌دهی به داده‌ها و شناسایی نوفه و داده‌های پرت با استفاده از ماشین بردار پشتیبان فازی

Support Vector Machine (SVM) is one of the important classification techniques, has been recently attracted by many of the researchers. However, there are some limitations for this approach. Determining the hyperplane that distinguishes classes with the maximum margin and calculating the position of each point (train data) in SVM linear classifier can be interpreted as computing a data membersh...

A general family of NBU classes of life distributions

In this paper we introduce and study a family of new better than used ageing notions parameterized by a function h. The new better than used (NBU), the new better than used of a specified age t0 (NBU-t0) and the new better than used in total time on test transform order (NBUT), are special cases of this new family. We study some properties of the new family, and we give some applications of it ...

Testing a Point Null Hypothesis against One-Sided for Non Regular and Exponential Families: The Reconcilability Condition to P-values and Posterior Probability

In this paper, the reconcilability between the P-value and the posterior probability in testing a point null hypothesis against the one-sided hypothesis is considered. Two essential families, non regular and exponential family of distributions, are studied. It was shown in a non regular family of distributions; in some cases, it is possible to find a prior distribution function under which P-va...
